Organization earns LEED certification for Grand Junction office building

Housing Resources of Western Colorado has earned energy efficiency and conservation certification for its office building, a first in Grand Junction for an existing building.

Housing Resources received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The Plaza del Sol building received certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use.

The building features energy efficient interior lighting, interior plumbing fixtures and landscaping that reduce water use, heat recovery ventilation for improved indoor air quality and the use of nontoxic materials and cleaning products.

A nonprofit organization based in Grand Junction, Housing Resources offers a range of services to low- and moderate-income clients, including weatherization, rental housing and housing rehabilitation loans. For more information, log on to the Web site at www.housingresourceswc.org.
