Volunteers from Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates and St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction assisted with an annual summer camp for children with physical and cognitive disabilities.
Dr. Mary Beth Deering, a pediatric orthopaedist with RMOA, and RMOA also sponsored Camp Freedom on the Grand Mesa. Colorado Discover Ability stages the event, offering adaptive experiences in a variety of outdoor recreational activities.
“Camp Freedom is very special to us,” said Mike Zamora, outreach coordinator for RMOA. “Colorado Discover Ability works hard to give children with these disabilities an opportunity to experience teamwork and adventure that they likely haven’t been able to do before.”
RMOA offers a range of services related to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the bones, joints and muscles. For more information, visit www.rmoadocs.com.
