Outdoor recreation industry listening session set for Sept. 14

An upcoming event planned for Grand Junction will offer participants an opportunity to talk about the outdoor recreation industry and economic development.

The Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office (OREC) has scheduled a presentation and listening session for 4 to 5 p.m. Sept. 14 at Base Camp Beer Works, 2575 U.S. Highway 6 & 50, Unit C.

A happy hour and what’s billed as campfire conversations will follow at 5 and 6 p.m., respectively.

The event will begin with a presentation on OREC programs and funding, then a discussion about how the office can support the outdoor recreation industry in the region.

The Wright, a nonprofit organization promoting the economic and cultural vitality of Colorado communities, will host the campfire conversation.

The event is open to participants from outdoor recreation and tourism businesses and nonprofits as well as those involved in government, education and work force development.
