A new Palisade business offers safari-style tours through the Grand Valley on what was formerly a troop transport vehicle.
Dave Smith opened Pali-Tours in May to showcase local attractions as well as a 1975 Pinzgauer 712M six-wheel-drive vehicle he calls “Pinzy.”
“Due to the growing popularity of the many tourism attractions of the wineries, lavender farms, agri-tourism and recreational opportunities with biking and river activities, I saw an opportunity to add flair to our diverse economy with bringing Pinzy into the mix of helping with transportation,” Smith said.
The Austrian made military troop transport vehicle provides views to up to 12 people.
Pali-Tours is open daily and offers customized tours to individuals and groups. A four-hour package sells for $75 a person. Discounts are available for groups of more than nine.
