Two Grand Valley events are planned to raise money for the Roice-Hurst Humane Society.
Chow Down Pet Supplies has scheduled its Howl-O-Ween Hustle fund-raiser for Oct. 25.
The event will include a 5-kilometer run, 1-mile challenge walk and dog Halloween custom contest in front of the Chow Down location in the Albertson’s Plaza at 2518 Broadway in Grand Junction. The 5K will start at 10 a.m. and challenge walk at 10:15 a.m. on the nearby Audubon Trail.
Admission is $20, which includes a t-shirt. Proceeds will benefit the Roice-Hurst Humane Society. Participants who bring their dogs in Halloween costumes will be eligible to win gift certificates from Chow Down.

The Hot Tomato Cafe & Pizzeria in Fruita has scheduled its “Paws and Pies” fund-raiser for Nov. 1.
Between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., 10 percent of total sales will go to the Roice-Hurst animal shelter and adoption center. Other activities also are planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 124 N Mulberry St., including goodie bags for dog owners and a drawing for gift baskets and a one-year supply of dog food from Chow Down Pet Supplies.
