Candidates have until 5 p.m. Jan. 18 to turn in nomination petitions to run for three open seats on the Grand Junction City Council.
The spring city election will determine who fills four-year terms on the council in District B and C as well as an at-large seat.
Council candidates must be at least 18 years old and a registered Grand Junction voter. District B and C candidates must have lived within the boundaries of those districts for at least a year immediately preceding the election. At-large candidates must have lived within city limits for a year before the election. Maps outlining council districts are available online at
Candidates also must submit petitions with the signatures of at least 50 valid registered Grand Junction voters and return them to the city clerk’s office.
Information on individual verified candidates can be found on the elections web page. Included will be a photo and links to the candidates’ email addresses and websites/social media sites, if they so choose.
Ballots will be mailed out starting March 11 and must be returned by 7 p.m. April 2. Only registered voters living in city limits are eligible to vote in the city council election. Voter registration status can be checked by visiting the Mesa County clerk website.
