Picture this: Photographer opens downtown studio

A portrait photographer has opened a studio in downtown Grand Junction.

Monument Photography is located at 438 Main St. and offers engagement, family, newborn, senior and wedding photography.

Marc Melnick brings to the venture 10 years of experience as a portrait photographer. He also holds a bachelor’s of fine arts in photography degree from the University of Colorado at Denver.

“I’m very excited to have this opportunity to offer quality photography to the community,” Melnick said. “And being in the heart of Grand Junction made a lot of sense to me. With the unique blend of urban settings right outside the studio door, as well as my top-quality studio backdrops, we have so many options to offer our clients.”

Melnick said he combines his passion for photography with his enjoyment in connecting with people. “It’s fun to know that I’ve helped them capture their family memories, their personalities and the important events in their lives. I love coming to work every day.”

Marc’s wife, Serenity, is co-owner of Monument Photography and also serves as its marketing director. “I’m very proud of Marc. He’s worked hard to bring his dream to life,” she said. “A lot of other photographers are working out of their home to save on expenses. But our vision was always to create a fun and friendly portrait studio. We love being in the heart of downtown, and having the parking garage right behind us is perfect.”
