Powderhorn Mountain Resort east of Grand Junction will offer skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to spend time with ski patrollers as part of National Safety Month activities at ski resorts across Colorado and the United States.
Through January, Powderhorn will offer guests the opportunity to ski or ride with a professional ski patroller and learn about the duties and role of the ski patrol, its importance to the resort and what it takes to work in the ski industry. Participation costs $75 per person for two hours or $95 for four hours.
Every year, Colorado ski resorts hold safety demonstrations and programming to educate guests about safety practices and remind skiers and riders they’re responsible for their safety on the slopes. In addition to ski patrol demonstrations, January events include avalanche safety training and visits with trained avalanche dogs as well as helmet and safety giveaways.
