Powderhorn to go on the auction block

The Powderhorn Ski Resort is scheduled to on the auction block in August.

The Grand Mesa resort announced it has contracted with an auction marketing firm that specializes in high-value properties to sell the resort on Aug. 4.

“We’re excited for what the future of Powderhorn can be and we know the potential that it has, so we’re working with the leader in high-end real estate auctions to ensure a quick and positive experience for us and for the future owner,” Steve Bailey, president and chief executive officer of Powderhorn, stated in a press release. “On behalf of the current ownership and staff, we are looking forward to the transition for this gem of Western Colorado.”

The Powderhorn Ski Resort operates four ski lifts and maintains 44 trails on about 600 acres of groomed terrain. The resort includes about 750 acres of real estate, a lodge with 16 guest rooms, a mountain operations building, equipment maintenance facility, dry storage building and administrative building.

J.P. King Auction Co. will sell the resort at an absolute auction with no minimums or reserves. The firm specializes in high-value properties and portfolios, including luxury homes, developments, condominiums, land and ranches.
