Powderhorn Mountain Resort has scheduled what’s billed as two preview weekends in advance of the official launch of its 50th anniversary season.
The resort will be open Dec. 3 and 4 and again Dec. 11 and 12. The resort will reopen for full operations starting Dec. 15.
Favorable snowmaking conditions combined with natural snowfall on the Grand Mesa east of Grand Junction have enabled Powderhorn to offer one of its earliest openings.
“We couldn’t ask for a better kickoff to our 50th anniversary season,” said Sam Williams, general manager of Powderhorn Mountain Resort. “We’ve had great snowmaking temps and mother nature showed up with 2 feet of snow over the last two days. Everyone from the instructors at the ski and ride center to the guest services crew is thrilled to welcome back our winter customers.”
The Flat Top Flyer and EZ Rider lifts will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on preview weekends with select terrain availability. The Sunset Bar & Grill, rental shop and ski and ride center also will be open.
For the preview weekend, Powderhorn will offer discounted lift tickets at $49 for adults and $41 for youth and seniors. People age 75 and older will pay $26. Children 6 and under will receive a free lift ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket.
Powderhorn will officially kickoff its 50th anniversary season on Dec. 15. Lift ticket prices will move to regular season pricing of $71 for a full-day adult lift ticket.
