An upcoming presentation will offer an update about new and proposed homeowner association (HOA) laws.
The free presentation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. May 15 in the community room of the Goodwill retail center located at 630 24 1/2 Road in Grand Junction.
HOA leaders as well as real estate professionals and lawyers are encouraged to attend.
The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Community Association Institute will sponsor presentations in Mesa as well as Eagle and Summit counties in May. The CAI is a homeowners association education and advocacy group with chapters in all 50 states.
The presentations were prompted by requests to provide more direct communication between Western Colorado HOAs and state lawmakers in Denver.
Volunteer HOA attorneys will address two specific issues during the upcoming presentations:
- New requirements related to document management and associated board procedures for homeowner associations.
- Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements affecting swimming pool access and other accommodations for those with disabilities.
The attorneys will discuss other emerging issues, such as the Colorado initiative legalizing marijuana use, and recently proposed HOA laws. They’ll also answer questions.
