Presenters sought for Grand Junction event

Proposals will be accepted through Nov. 3 for Ignite Western Slope, an event featuring five-minute presentations on a variety of topics.

The Grand Junction Toastmasters Club will host the event from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Mesa County Libraries central library, 443 N. Sixth St. in Grand Junction.

The event is free and open to the public, although donations of canned foods for the local food bank will be accepted.

“We’re really excited about bringing this Ignite event to Grand Junction,” said Mary Watson, president of the Grand Junction Toastmasters Club. “We continually look for ways to stimulate and challenge our club and our community. Ignite is a great way to bring new and exciting opportunities for all inspiring speakers.”

Ignite events offer people an opportunity to present information about a topic about which they’re passionate. Twelve presenters will be selected to tell stories, share ideas or teach participants how to do something. Each presentation is limited, though, to five minutes and 20 slides.

People who’d like to participate at the Grand Junction event should e-mail titles and brief descriptions of their proposed presentations along with their slides to
