Programs offer discounts at Colorado ski resorts

Registration is underway for programs offering discounts on lift tickets to Colorado ski resorts for the 2018-2019 season, including Powderhorn Mountain Resort east of Grand Junction.

Registration also is open for a program offering fifth and sixth grade students free and discounted skiing and snowboarding.

Colorado Ski Country USA, a trade association of 24 resorts, offers the Colorado Gems Card and Passport Program.

The Colorado Gems Card sells for $25 and offers up to 22 days of discounted lift tickets to 11 resorts, including either two-for-one or 30 percent off discounts. “It pays for itself after one use ad gives holders a great opportunity to get out around the state to explore ski areas they may not have experienced,” said Melanie Mills, president and chief executive officer of Colorado Ski Country USA.

The Passport Program offers fifth-grade students three days of free lift tickets at 22 resorts and sixth graders four days of lift tickets at those resorts for $105. Powderhorn will participate in the program.
