Promotion offers discounts at Powderhorn, other ski areas

A promotion now under way offers special discounts and deals at Powderhorn and eight other Colorado ski areas.

The Colorado Gems Card sells for $10 and offers savings on lift tickets at all nine areas, two-for-one lift tickets at five areas and free lift tickets at two areas.

“Gem resort visitors are part of an enthusiastic group of dedicated skiers and riders intent on making the most of their season at these treasured ski areas. They’ve discovered that the gems card is the simplest way to get the most out of the gem resorts and the Colorado ski season,” said Melanie Mills, president and chief executive officer of Colorado Ski Country USA, a trade association of 22 ski areas in the state.

At Powderhorn, the Colorado Gems Card offers $10 off lift tickets as well as two-for-one lift tickets on weekdays from Jan. 8 through April 1, 2012.

In addition to Powderhorn, the Colorado gem resorts include Arapahoe Basin, Echo Mountain, Eldora Mountain Resort, Loveland Ski Area, Monarch Mountain, Ski Cooper, SolVista Basin and Sunlight Mountain Resort.

Colorado Gems Cards are available through the upcoming ski season until they sell out. To purchase a card or obtain more information, visit the Web site at
