Realtor group bestows awards and installs leaders

Sandy Borman, a real estate professional who has served with industry organizations on local and state levels, was among the winners of annual awards bestowed by the Grand Junction Area Realtor Association.

Realtors also were installed on the GJARA leadership team during the event in the Meyer Ballroom at Colorado Mesa University.

“This night was an opportunity for us to reflect on the past, recognize those who shined and thank our past leadership team for their hard work and dedication,” said Lori Wood, the new chairwoman of GJARA board of directors.

“I’m looking forward to guiding this organization over the next year. We have a lot that we would like to accomplish for our community,” Wood added.

Borman, a Realtor who runs the Borman Group at Keller Williams Colorado West Realty in Grand Junction, was honored as Realtor of the Year. The award recognizes involvement in the local and state levels of the Colorado Association of Realtors, contributions to the real estate industry and community involvement.

“I am very humbled to receive this award and to have been selected from the many outstanding peers in my industry,” Borman said.

Borman has served as a director and chairwoman of GJARA as well as served on various local and state committees. She currently serves as state chairwoman of the Council of Residential Specialists.

“Sandy has gone above and beyond the call of duty,” said Betsy Smith, managing broker of Keller Williams Colorado West Realty. “She has worked tirelessly on behalf of her fellow Realtors on day-to-day decisions that have to be made in order to make sure that we are delivering the highest level of service to the public and contributing significantly to our community. She truly deserves this award.”

Aubrey Haas with Fidelity National Title Co. in Grand Junction was named Affiliate of the year. Merrite Wyatt with Bray Real Estate was named Rookie of the Year. Brandon Palmer with RE/MAX Two Rivers Realty, received the Chairman’s Award.

Terri Walter and Christy Whitney Borchard with HopeWest received the Community Service Award.

Along with Wood, the GJARA officers for the coming year include Tina Harbin, chairwoman elect, and Janelle Gear, treasurer. Bill Wagner is the past chairman.

The directors are: Lisa Bikki, Carol Gerber, Sheri Griego, Amanda Hill, Julie Olmstead, Palmer, Kathy Rehberg and Kelly Romatzke.

The Colorado Association of Realtors directors are Michael Burkhard, Lois Dunn and Lynn Gillespie.
