REI Co-op has expanded its equipment rental program — starting with snowshoes.
“Factors such as price and storage space can be barriers to getting outdoors. Offering rental gear makes it that much easier for people to learn a new hobby, check out new gear, connect with friends and get outside,” said Peter Whitcomb, director of new business development and head of the rental program at REI.
Most gear available to rent also can be purchased, so customers can try out products before purchasing, Whitcomb said. After each season, gently used equipment will be sold.
Headquartered near Seattle, REI operates a total of 154 stores in 35 states and the District of Columbia, including nine stores in Colorado. In Grand Junction, REI is located at 925 Independent Ave. For more information, visit www.REI.com.
