Restaurant marks 40 years in operation

Dos Hombres will mark 40 years in business with special events and fare at both locations of the Mexican restaurant in the Grand Valley.

Gloria Howard and her two sons, Spike and Scott Howard, opened the first Dos Hombres on April 1, 1977 at 2516 Broadway,  across the street from the current Redlands location of the restaurant at
421 Brach Drive. A second Dos Hombres restaurant opened in 1981 in Clifton and relocated in 2002 to its current location at 3245 Interstate 70 Business Loop.

“Our attention has always been on quality. A high standard of service and outstanding food quality has been our focus and priority for the last four decades, and it’s still our priority today,” said Spike Howard, who still owns the Clifton restaurant.

Scott Howard and his wife, Mo, sold the Redlands restaurant in 2015 to Jake Sigle, their general manager. “It’s definitely exciting to own and work at a restaurant that has been a staple in the Grand Valley,” Sigle said. “It’s definitely a legacy restaurant, and we have customers who have been enjoying our fine Sonoran-style Mexican food since the day the restaurant opened.”

While special events are planned for April 1, the celebration is expected to continue all year, Spike Howard said. “We will be asking customers to share their favorite memories of the restaurant. We will be featuring some fresh new menu items as well as bringing back some past favorites and will offer a variety of 40th anniversary specials.”
