Robotics team seeks sponsors to help fund trip to championship

A team of Grand Valley High School students is looking for businesses and individuals willing to serve as sponsors to help cover the cost of competing in a robotics competition in Houston.

The Hi Fives won the Chairman’s Award and placed 10th at the FIRST Robotics regional meet in Salt Lake City. The Hi Fives are set to also vie in the upcoming Colorado regional meet in Denver.

By winning the Chairman’s Award, the team also earned a berth in the FIRST World Championships set for April in Houston.

The Chairman’s Award is bestowed to a team at a regional meet that’s had the most significant measurable effects on its community. The Hi Fives have hosted technical workshops and camps around the Western Slope to promote science, technology, engineering and math to students of all ages.
