A second Del Taco restaurant in Grand Junction is scheduled to open Feb. 6.
A grand opening at the newly constructed restaurant, located at 2878 North Ave., is set for midnight and will continue into the early morning hours of Feb. 6.
The location is the second in Grand Junction for franchisee H.B. Mason, who also opened a Del Taco in January 2013 at 2513 U.S. 50 next to the Rimrock Shopping Center.
As part of the celebration for the second location, Del Taco will deliver food prepared during seven training days at the restaurant to the House, which provides food, shelter and care for homeless teen-agers, as well as the Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley homeless shelter. The donation is valued at about $7,500.
A total of nearly 550 Del Taco restaurants operate in 18 states. Del Taco serves such Mexican fare as tacos, burritos and nachos made to order with such fresh ingredients as cheddar cheese grated from 40-pound blocks, slow-cooked beans and marinated chicken grilled in the restaurant. Del Taco also serves such American favorites as hamburgers, crinkle-cut fries and shakes.
