An annual document shredding benefit event raised $4,700 for Mesa County Partners.
Alpine Bank hosted the shred event and raised money through a suggested donation of $5 for each banker size box of documents that were shredded.
Colorado Document Security, the Grand Valley firm that provided on-site document destruction services for the event, reported that more than 17 tons of paper were shredded and subsequently recycled.
“This event is truly a win-win,” said Tawni Kelley, director of community outreach for Alpine Bank in Grand Junction. “We are helping people get rid of old and sensitive documents, reducing their risk of identity theft, helping our environnment and benefiting a great organization that does so much for our kids.”
