Daren Cole has been promoted to president of Leitner-Poma of America, a cable transportation company based in Grand Junction.
Cole brings to his new duties more than 25 years of experience, including positions with some of the largest ski resorts in North America. He succeeds Rick Spear, who retired after more than 40 years with Leitner-Poma.
“I am honored to take the helm and serve our customers and our employees at Leitner-Poma,” Cole said. “The right equipment for the right job is the exact solution we provide. Our experienced and knowledgeable staff is unrivaled in the industry, and I look forward to working with them to continue to move our company forward.”
Cole joined Leitner-Poma in 2014 in business development and added strategic planning to his duties. He’s been responsible for a strategy and a process that’s led to increased sales, including the recent installations of ski lifts at the Copper Mountain and Winter Park resorts.
Cole previously held a series of positions at Colorado ski resorts, including general manager of Powderhorn Mountain Resort, vice president of sales and marketing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort and director of sales at Purgatory Ski Resort.
Spear said he’s scaling back, but plans to remain involved in Leitner-Poma as a member of the board of directors and to focus on opportunities for urban ropeway projects. “I know that I am leaving LPOA in good hands. Daren has shown a level of dedication and leadership to the company that will successfully transition into the future.”
Leitner-Poma designs, engineers and manufactures a variety of cable transportation systems, including chairlifts and gondolas for ski resorts as well as trams and inclined elevators. For more information, visit www.leitner-poma.com.
