Ski trade association offers discounts

Registration is under way for an annual program offering discounted lift tickets to Powderhorn Mountain Resort and nine other Colorado ski resorts.

Colorado Ski Country USA also conducts a program offering free and discounted lift tickets at 22 member resorts to fifth and sixth grade students.

“The opening of the Colorado Ski Country USA’s pass products signals the start of another ski season here in Colorado,” said Melanie Mills, president and chief executive officer of the trade association.

“With more participating resorts, the fifth and sixth grade Passport Program and the Colorado Gems Card provide affordable access to ski resorts all across Colorado,” Mills said.

The Colorado Gems Card sells for $25 and offers two-for-one adult lift tickets or 30 percent off adult lift tickets good for up to 20 days of skiing or snowboarding at Powderhorn Mountain Resort on the Grand Mesa east of Grand Junction as well as Arapahoe Basin, Cooper, Echo Mountain, Eldora, Granby Ranch, Hesperus, Loveland, Monarch and Sunlight.

The Passport Program offers fifth grade students three days of free skiing or snowboarding at 22 Colorado Ski Country USA Resorts, including Powderhorn.

An additional program offers fifth graders who’ve never skied or snowboarded one free lesson and equipment rental.

The Passport Program offers sixth grade students four days of  skiing or snowboarding for $105 for those who register before Nov. 30 and $125 between Dec. 1 and Jan. 31.
