Dr. Brian Davidson, president of St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, is among the latest group of emerging leaders age 40 or younger recognized for their contributions to the health care industry.
Davidson is included in the 2017 class of up and comers honored by Modern Healthcare, which publishes a weekly magazine with the same name and also reports on business, policies and research through websites, newsletters and other sources. “This year’s class of up and comers exemplifies the spirit of innovation and the dedication to mission that makes health care the most exciting industry for young professionals,” said Aurora Aguilar, editor of Modern Health Care.
The honorees are featured in the Oct. 16 issue of Modern Healthcare and online at www.ModernHealthCare.com/upancomers2017.
Davidson said he was honored by the recognition. “It is inspiring to be part of such a wonderful group of young leaders working and serving for the health and benefit of people in our respective communities.”
Lydia Jumonville, president and chief executive officer of SCL Health, which operates St. Mary’s Medical Center, praised Davidson. “He is doing great work at St. Mary’s for the people we serve in Western Colorado and Eastern Utah.”
Davidson was named president of St. Mary’s in 2016. He joined St. Mary’s as chief medical officer in 2014. He previously worked at the University of Colorado Anschutz medical campus in several positions, including vice chairman of the anesthesiology department and medical director of the operating room. Davidson is among only 5 percent of hospital administrators in the United States who are also doctors.
