Staffing service not horsing around with fair fund-raiser

Express Employment Professionals plans to bring its team of Clydesdales and six-hitch wagon to the Mesa County Fair in Grand Junction.

“I look forward to providing this unique opportunity to the community,” said Nina Anderson, owner of the Express Employment Professionals staffing service franchise in Grand Junction.

Express Employment Professionals, a national sponsor of the Children’s Miracle Network, also will use the appearance of the Express Clydesdales to raise money for the CMN. Various levels of sponsorships are available for companies to support the CMN and give their staff rides. The team also will provide rides from the Mesa County Fairgrounds parking lot for donations before, during and after roping events at the fair, set for July 20 and 21.

The rare black and white Express Clydesdales stand about 6 feet tall at the withers and weigh more than a ton each. Their horse shoes are the size of dinner plates and weigh more than 3 pounds each.

The Express Clydesdales are the reining national eight- and six-horse hitch champions. The team has participated in many nationally recognized parades and promotional events, including the Tournament of Roses Parade, Calgary Stampede Parade and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
