“Star Wars” author among speakers at Comic Con

Ian Doescher, author of a series of books retelling “Star Wars” stories in the style of William Shakespeare, is among the featured speakers at an upcoming event in Grand Junction.

Doescher will speak and sign his books during the Mesa County Libraries Comic Con, a free event set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 7 at Two Rivers Convention Center, 159 Main St.

Doescher’s series includes “William Shakespeare’s Star Wars,” “William Shakespeare’s The Empire Striketh Back” and “William Shakespeare’s The Jedi Doth Return.” His latest book, “William Shakespeare’s The Force Doth Awaken” is set for release in October.

Doescher lives in Portland, Ore., where he works for a marketing firm. He’s holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Yale University and a doctoral degree from the Union Theological Seminary.

Comic Con will include panel discussions, workshops, fan meetups, a costume contest and other activities related to books, comics, graphic novels and movies as well as fantasy and science fiction. Reservations for booth spaces for an exhibitor fair will be accepted through July 31.
