The Sunlight Mountain Resort in Glenwood Springs has joined with a Colorado brewery to develop a craft soda branded Sunny Pop.

Sunny Pop is available for purchase at Sunlight Mountain Resort, at the resort’s downtown ski shop and other retail outlets. In addition, Sunlight will offer lift tickets specials that include free cans of Sunny Pop throughout the season.

Tommyknocker Brewery — an Idaho Springs company that makes ales and lagers as well as craft sodas — created Sunny Pop based on its orange creme soda. The resort and brewery then worked together to create a custom label and marketing campaign.

“With Sunny Pop, we wanted to partner with another mom-and-pop Colorado company and create one of the first, if not the first, ski resort-inspired craft soda,” said Troy Hawks, director of marketing and sales for Sunlight Mountain Resort.

“At Sunlight, we’re proud of our Colorado heritage,” Hawks said. “We’re always looking for creative and strategic ways to celebrate and work with other small, authentic Colorado companies, like Tommyknocker Brewery, that share the same values of independence, quality and innovation.

Steve Indrehus, director of brewing operations for Tommyknocker Brewery, said Sunny Pop has a smooth citrus orange flavor with a vanilla creaminess. “It’s like a lil’ pop of sunshine on a powdery day.”

Hawks put it another way: “Sunny Pop tastes like Sunlight in a can.”
