Symposium to explore collaborative efforts

An upcoming symposium in Grand Junction will offer information about how nonprofit organizations can join in collaborative efforts to achieve social changes.

The collective impact symposium is scheduled for 8 a.m.. to 4 p.m. April 24 at the Mesa County Workforce Center, located at 512 29 1/2 Road.

The symposium will be sponsored by the Western Slope Regional Leadership Committee, a coalition of regional nonprofit and community leaders that brings professional development and networking opportunity to nonprofits in a region that includes Mesa as well as Delta, Eagle, Garfield and Pitkin counties.

The symposium will offer information about the perks and pitfalls of collaborative approaches as well as strategies for replicating effective practices. Representatives from such organizations as the Adams County Youth Initiative, Aspen Community Foundation and Civic Canopy will lead workshops and panel discussions. Presentations will address such topics as lessons from the field, experiences from a field trainer, collaborating for social change and the promise of collective impact.
