Distilleries, restaurants, wineries and other businesses plan to join in a tasteful new fund-raiser.
Named for Edesia, the Roman goddess of fine food and wine, the event is scheduled for 2 to 6 p.m. March 20 at the Wine Country Inn, 777 Grande River Drive in Palisade. Tickets sell for $49 and can be purchased at the Wine Country Inn or online at www.edesiapalisade.com.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Marillac Clinic, which provides heath care services to uninsured Mesa County residents with low and moderate incomes.
“It is a great cause and an excellent way to sample the best food and wine available. Besides, it’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Jerome Strack, who, as general manager of the Wine Country Inn, is coordinating Edesia.
Participating wineries will include Canyon Wind Cellars, Carlson Vineyards, Colterris, Debeque Canyon, Garfield Estates, Grande River Vineyards, Graystone, Maison La Belle Vie, Mesa Park, Talon and Whitewater Hill.
Participating distilleries will include Colorado Soda Co., Montanya Rum, Peach Street distilleries and Stanahan’s Whiskey.
Participating restaurants and food vendors will include: Bin 707, Decadence Cheesecakes, Il Bistro, La Dolce Vita, La Rouge, Palisade Café, Red Canyon Grill and Tapestry Lounge.
In addition to beverage and food samples, Edesia will feature demonstrations by Juan Cruz Anon, executive chef at the French Press in Edwards.
“For Edesia’s inaugural effort, we will present only the finest food and beverages,” Strack said. “We expect to outgrow our donated space in a short time and become a major event that draws visitors to the Grand Valley from the entire Western Slope, Front Range and surrounding states to Palisade and the Grand Valley.”
