Businesses are rightfully grateful for the events that bring visitors and their money to Mesa County.
A recent analysis conducted by an economics professor at Colorado Mesa University estimated the economic benefits of the annual Country Jam music festival at $11 million. That total includes not only money directly spent on staging Country Jam, but also money visitors spend outside the festival.
Meanwhile, another year of record attendance at the Colorado Mountain Winefest in Palisade confirmed the ongoing popularity of that event. The economic contributions of the Winefest, by the way, are estimated at between $750,000 and $1 million.
Thank goodness for special events that are obviously special.
