Three appointed to state education council

Tim Foster, president of Colorado Mesa University, has been reappointed to the Governor’s Education Leadership Council.

Foster serves on the council as a postsecondary education administrator representing the four-year sector.

Felicia Casto, a teacher with Mesa County School District 51, also was reappointed. Cheryl Gomez, a school principal in Montrose, was appointed to the council.

The council develops strategies to improve the educational system and align education with work force needs. Members of the council discuss policy, legislative and financial initiatives to promote early childhood education as well as postsecondary programs that prepare students for the work force.
