A tire distributor has announced plans to expand with the construction of a new facility in the Grand Valley.
American Tire Distributors expects to build an 83,000 square foot facility off 21 1/2 Road.
The firm supplies tire dealers, service repair shops and automotive performance shops with products, tools and programs.
The Grand Junction Economic Partnership assisted the company by providing real estate information, business referrals and overall project support. GJEP announced the expansion.
“GJEP is happy to have worked with American Tire Distributors over the past couple of years. We know this expansion will be creating new jobs and providing significant capital investment to our community,” said Ann Driggers, outgoing president and chief executive officer of the economic development organization.
Joe McSweeney of Brookwood Capital, developer of the project, said he’s excited about the expansion. “The Grand Junction area has been good to American Tire Distributors and we look forward to providing a new facility that will allow the business to grow,” he said.
McSweeney said Brookwood Capital will demonstrate its commitment to the area by involving local professionals throughout various stages of the project. Steve Thompson will serve as project manager, McSweeney said. “Steve provides that high-level local expertise and we are happy to have him on board.”
Kelly Marlin, interim president and CEO of GJEP, said the expansion plans required a collaborative effort. “This project was an exercise in collaboration and problem solving. I can’t think the staff at the City of Grand Junction enough. Without their efforts, this project may never have gotten off the ground.”
