An annual touch-a-truck event will return to Grand Junction to raise awareness of safety for roadside workers and emergency responders.
The event is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 21 in the parking lot outside JC Penney at the Mesa Mall, 2424 U.S. Highway 6 & 50.
The event will feature ambulances, fire trucks, police and sheriffs vehicles and tow trucks. The event also will include demonstrations, food and raffles.
Slow Down Move Over Colorado organizes the event to raise awareness of state laws that require motorists to slow down and move over when they see flashing lights. The organization also plans to create a fund for the survivors of tow operators killed as a result of motorists who don’t comply with the law.
