Two-day event to offer landscaping tips

An upcoming event will offer classes, demonstrations and exhibits designed to help participants grow healthier and more beautiful landscapes.

The Landscapes West and Outdoor Living event is set for March 18 and 19 at Two Rivers Convention Center, 159 Main St. in downtown Grand Junction.

The exhibit hall will be open from noon to 7 p.m. March 18 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 19 and include a landscape display and demonstration. Classes are set for 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 18 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 19.

The event will feature Lauren Springer, a professional designer, author and plant developer who wrote “The Undaunted Garden.” Springer also  has designed several projects, including a water garden at the Denver Botanical Gardens.

Tony Koski, professor, turf specialist and master gardener with Colorado State University, also will speak at the event. Master gardeners with the Tri River master gardener program will be on hand to answer landscaping questions.

The Western Colorado Contractors Association, Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado and CSU Extension have teamed up to present Landscapes West and Outdoor Living. Other sponsors include U.S. Bank, Grand Junction Pipe and Supply, the City of Grand Junction Forestry Department and Colorado State Forest Service.
