Upcoming events add to business resources

Small business owners and managers in the Grand Valley can count among their blessings the plentiful resources available to help them do their jobs.

The Business Incubator Center, Colorado Mesa University, Mesa County Workforce Center and chambers of commerce all offer services and programs to help businesses. Add to that the services local companies provide — including, we’d immodestly assert, the Business Times.

Various events throughout the year offer additional opportunities for owners and managers to learn more about various topics related to business operations and management. As it turns out, April is chock full of such events.

As part of its mission to provide news and views readers can use, the Business Times routinely publicizes upcoming events, whether through the brief items published in the Almanac or longer stories that appear elsewhere in the paper. That’s a long-winded invitation to read all about some exceptional upcoming events in this issue.

To reinforce the matter, though, consider a few of the events scheduled for the Grand Valley in the coming month, presented here in chronological order:

On April 13, Express Employment Professionals will host a local simulcast of its Refresh Leadership presentation. Along with NBA star Shaquille O’Neal, the event will include an executive coach and career consultant offering information about how participants can become better leaders.

On April 27 and 28, Colorado Mesa University will host Entrepreneurship Day luncheons in Grand Junction and Montrose, respectively, The events are scheduled to include keynote presentations by George Gillett Jr., a Colorado business mogul whose varied ventures over the years have included professional sports franchises, ski resorts and meat processing operations.

On April 28, the Colorado Advanced Manufacturing Alliance will host its Western Colorado manufacturing summit at CMU in Grand Junction. The summit will include a keynote presentation, panel discussion and breakout sessions all focusing on ways to foster innovation. The keynote address will feature Tamara Kleinberg, an entrepreneur and author who’s worked with some of the biggest brands in the country.

So count your blessings, business owners and managers, and take advantage of the plentiful resources available to help you do your jobs.
