Valley Surgical, Aesthetics and Vein Care in Grand Junction has scheduled a free leg screening clinic.
The clinic is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 23 at 2478 Patterson Road, Suite 4. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 773-1946. More information is available online at www.surgicalcare.com.
Dr. Brad Case, a surgeon who owns Valley Surgical, Aesthetics and Vein Care, will conduct the clinic.
While varicose veins are often considered only a cosmetic concern, they can pose potentially serious health problems, Case said.
“A varicose vein develops when the one-way valves inside your veins that keep blood moving toward your heart become weak or damaged. When these valves don’t function properly, blood backs up and pools in your veins, causing them to swell. This can lead to feelings of leg heaviness and pain, and can lead to blood clots and ulcers,” Case said. “The goal is to treat the vein before it becomes a problem.”
