Vietnam Memorial gets new artwork May 16

New artwork will be on display for the public to see as of May 16 at the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial in Fruita.

The new artwork includes stainless steel Screaming Eagles in the shape of the 101st Airborne signal as well as forged scrollwork spirals in wrought iron. The artwork was designed and created by Corbin Macleod of MacLeod Lux.

In addition to the new plaques, the names of Vietnam Era veterans from the Western Slope will be added to the memorial, thanks to Snyder Memorials.

These installments will be revealed at 11 a.m. on May 16, but there is no formal event. The Vietnam War Memorial Park is located at the Colorado Welcome Center in Fruita, just off Interstate 70 at the Fruita exit.
