An online hiring event planned for August is expected to match people looking for jobs with openings with the Colorado Department of Transportation.
CDOT and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment will host what’s billed as a virtual job fair around the clock from Aug. 1 to 31.
To participate, people should register at www.connectingcolorado.com. They can review a variety of available career opportunities, visit regional chat rooms to get questions answered and learn about CDOT. Participants also will be able to attend workshops to help them write a résumé and build their job seeking and interviewing skills.
“We’re excited to be able to provide a great employer like CDOT with this virtual job fair,” said Ellen Golombek, executive director of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.
“They offer vital and interesting work, excellent benefits, competitive salaries and career growth opportunities,” she added.
Because job opportunities cover a large geographic region in Colorado, an online hiring event offers a more efficient way to attract applicants, Golombek said. “Job seekers can visit this virtual fair from any location with a web connection and at any time.”
The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment and its network of workforce centers — including the Mesa County Workforce Center located in Grand Junction — offer a range of free services to employers and job seekers.
Employers who want more information about hiring events to meet their staffing needs as well job hunters interested in participating in hiring events can obtain more information by contacting the Mesa County Workforce Center at 248-7560 or www.workforcecenter.mesacounty.us. Information also is available at the website at www.colorado.gov/cdle.
