Virtual job fair under way for ski resort openings

A virtual job fair is scheduled to run around-the-clock through Sept. 15 to recruit applicants for jobs at Colorado ski resorts.

The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment will join with workforce centers in six communities to host the fair.

To participate, people should register online at www.connectingcolorado.com. Once inside the virtual event, they can peruse a wide variety of job opportunities in hospitality, hotel and food service, ski operations and customer service. The hiring event will be used to fill hundreds of jobs at ski resorts, including Arapahoe Basin, Aspen Snowmass, Copper Mountain, Granby Ranch, Loveland, Steamboat, Vail and Winter Park. Participants will also be able to attend workshops to help them write a strong résumé and build their job seeking and interviewing skills.

“We’re excited to be able to provide this virtual job fair to these great employers,” said Ellen Golombek, executive director of the CDLE. “They offer full and part-time work, excellent benefits, competitive salaries and career growth opportunities.”

Because the job opportunities cover a wide geographic region, an online hiring event is the best way to go, Golombek said. “Job seekers can visit this virtual fair from any location with a web connection and at any time.”

The CDLE and its network of workforce centers — including the Mesa County Workforce Center in Grand Junction — offer a range of free services to employers and job seekers.

Employers who want more information about hiring events to meet their staffing needs as well job hunters interested in participating in hiring events can obtain more information by contacting the Mesa County Workforce Center at 248-7560 or www.workforcecenter.mesacounty.us.
