Volunteers sought to deliver Christmas Eve meals

Hilltop Community Resources and Comfort Keepers in Grand Junction both plan to serve Christmas Eve dinners to homebound seniors.

Hilltop expects to serve free dinners to 300 seniors who are clients of the Gray Gourmet, a program operated by St. Mary’s Hospital that delivers meals and companionship to seniors.

The Commons of Hilltop will prepare turkey dinners with traditional side dishes and desert.

Hilltop and community volunteers will deliver the meals between 1 and 4 p.m.
Dec. 24. Volunteers who’d like to participate should contact  Sheryl Click at 244-0659 or sherylc@htop.org.

Comfort Keepers also plans to once again bring Christmas Eve meals and companionship to homebound seniors. Comfort Keepers is also collecting food donations for meals that will include turkey, green beans, yams and a slice of pie.

The first year of the effort served dinners to 35 families. The effort has doubled in size in each of the following five years.

Comfort Keepers offers in-home services to seniors and others who need assistance.
