Waste Management in Grand Junction marked Earth Day with a celebration of its employees and the largest recycling processing operation between Denver and Salt Lake City.
“Recycling is easy, good for the environment and good for our local economy, and we encourage residents to make sure they’re recycling every day, not just on Earth Day,” said Ken Stevens, recycling manager for Waste Management.
The Grand Junction facility, located at 1227 Winters Ave., has processed over the past 10 years an estimated 114,180 tons of recyclable materials. Nationwide, Waste Management operates 100 recycling facilities and processes about 10 million tons of recylclable materials a year.
