To the editor:
I, for one, applaud and congratulate Colorado Mesa University and Steve Soychak for having the courage and wisdom to bring Steve Goreham with an opposing and challenging view to our community. This is a true academic search for the truth.
Since time immemorial, “settled science” has been challenged and proven wrong time after time. Those who rest on their “laurels” and refuse to accept that challenge are dogmatic at best, demagogues for sure.
Global warming alarmists’ theory of “man-made climate change” has not yet been PROVEN, only relying on “computer models” and a fictitious 97 percent of scientists saying it is so.
Anthropogenic global warming has been reputed by more than 30,000 scientists signing a petition saying that global warming is NOT a crisis, according to the Heartland Institute International Conference on climate change in New York City March 8 to 9, 2009. These scientists explained that the environmental advocacy groups have it all wrong. Global warming is most likely caused by natural forces, not by
man-induced carbon dioxide. They point to a cooling trend from 2000 to 2017, with new evidence carbon dioxide is not a very powerful greenhouse gas and, in fact, water vapor is far more influential on climate than carbon dioxide.
The American Enterprise Institute points out the United States leads the world in cutting carbon emissions to 1990 levels. According to the Energy Information Administration in a 5-31-2017 report. Carbon dioxide emissions hit a 67-year low under President Donald Trump. Even with a booming economy and a manufacturing surge, our per capita carbon dioxide emissions are at the lowest they have been since 1950.
See Forbes, May 31, 2012, “Sorry Global Warming Alarmists, the earth is cooling,” by Pete Ferrara re; the seventh International Climate Change Conference held in Chicago. The conference featured serious natural science, contrary to the self-interested political science you hear from government- financed global warming alarmists seeking to justify expanded regulatory and taxation powers for government bodies or government wannabes such as the United Nations.
Calm, dispassionate presentations by serious, pedigreed scientists discussing and explaining reams of data from natural weather forces. In sharp contrast to these climate “realists,” the climate alarmists have long admitted they can’t defend their theory that humans are causing catastrophic global warming in PUBLIC DEBATE.
Folks, the evidence that man-made global warming is erroneous is out there in abundance. You just have to go to the library or the internet or these books to find the information that is being repressed by the media, government and the environmental lobby:
“The Climate Chronicles” by Joe Bastardi.
“Meltdown” by Patrick J. Michaels.
“Global Warming and other Eco Myths” by Ronald Bailey.
“Dark Winter” by John L. Casey.
“Climate Confusion” by Roy Spencer.
One has to ask the question: Why will the global warming alarmists not debate any of these authors or any other institution that questions their validity?
I have an answer: “ Man-made climate change,” “settled science” and “97 percent scientific consensus” are code words for the political, environmental, media and academic elites for “we the people” to just sit down and shut up.
These alarmists fear the influence of men of intellectual independence. The 16th century philosopher Renee Descartes wrote: “I do not believe that which is known … until I know it.”
We the people are the ones who have the most to lose (life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness) if we allow this unchecked, failed theory to continue.
