Six Western Colorado health care professionals have been selected as Nightingale Luminaries.

Susie Bevan of HopeWest, Cindy Buller of Community Hospital, Danette MacMillan and Jennifer Martinez, both of St. Mary’s Hospital, Karl Prager from the Grand Junction Veterans Health Care System and Carol Rustebakke of Delta County Community Hospital were honored during the annual Nightingale Awards banquet at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.

The six will represent the region at a statewide awards presentation scheduled for May 7 in Denver.

The Nightingale Award for Excellence in Human Caring program honors Colorado health care professionals who exemplify the practice and philosophy of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale.

An additional 21 health care professionals from Western Colorado also were nominated for the regional awards. The nominees were: Erin Andrews, Sylvia Barton, Debra Caputo, Jennifer Cisneros, Stefanie Coleman, Barbara Feltskog-Keene, Michael Flack, Rhonda Galvin, Felcia Grant, Laura Guerrero, Kendra Howe, Marcia MacMurray, Kathy Maraschin, Macy McKim, Adam Nelson, Charles Partin, Connie Pieper, Jason Quarles, Donna Ragland, Linda Speedie and Brittany Stich.
