West Slope hospitals make list of most affordable facilities

Four Western Slope hospitals rank among the 10 most affordable hospitals in Colorado in an analysis of the cost of the 100 most common treatments.

Montrose Memorial Hospital ranks third on the list compiled by NerdWallet.com, a financial services information website that also offers information about health care.

Delta County Memorial Hospital ranks sixth, while St. Mary’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center and Community Hospital in Grand Junction rank ninth and 10th, respectively.

In compiling the list, NerdWallet analyzed the 100 most common treatments at 45 hospitals. The analysis also took into account patient satisfaction.

Montrose Memorial made the list for affordable treatments for stroke, angioplasty and pacemaker implantation. The hospital has a patient satisfaction rate of 73 percent.

Delta County Memorial made the list for treatments for fainting, spinal stenosis and heart rhythm disorders. The hospital has a patient satisfaction rate of 70 percent.

St. Mary’s was cited for its treatments for aortic aneurysms, spinal fusion and knee fracture or dislocation. The hospital has a patient satisfaction rate of 76 percent.

Community Hospital was noted for its treatments for congestive heart failure and sepsis and has a patient satisfaction rate of 76 percent.
