West Slope tech firms named companies to watch

An information technology services firm based in Grand Junction is among the latest winners of annual awards honoring fast-growing companies in Colorado.

Networks Unlimited was among the 50 winners in the Colorado Companies to Watch program for 2018.

Proximity Space, a Montrose-based firm that offers software and hardware to manage coworking spaces, also was selected a winner.

“We are excited to be recognized as one of the Colorado Companies to Watch, especially on their 10th anniversary of this award,” said Mark Swain, president of Networks Unlimited. “Our team and our customers are the reasons we were chosen for this honor. Without our team’s hard work and determination, our customers wouldn’t receive the high level of service that we are known for. We could not be happier to accept this recognition.”

Josh Freed, chief executive officer of Proximity Space, also said he was excited to win the award. “This important recognition highlights our innovative platform of software and hardware that not only supports coworking spaces all over the world, but plays a part in the economic impact that these spaces make in their communities.”

The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade joined with the Edward Lowe Foundation in 2009 to launch the program to honor so-called second stage companies for their innovative products, unique processes and performance in the marketplace as well as their philanthropic efforts.

To participate in the program, companies must be privately held, headquartered in Colorado, employ the equivalent of six to 99 full-time employees and generate $750,000 to $50 million in annual sales or working capital.

With offices in Grand Junction and Montrose, Networks Unlimited offers a range of IT services as well as computer and networking sales and support in Western Colorado.

Networks Unlimited also was named to the Top 500 Managed Service Providers and Top 250 Tech Elite in North America for 2018.

Proximity Space offers software and hardware to handle billing, access and scheduling for more than 130 coworking spaces, including the new F-Works coworking space in the Fruita Civic Center.

Proximity Space also operates coworking spaces in Montrose and Ridgway and merged with Launch West to operate the Factory in Grand Junction.
