Winners get the picture in ag photo contest

Two Grand Valley photographers are among the latest winners of an annual competition showcasing the agriculture industry in Colorado.

Elena Drazev of Grand Junction placed first in a category for photographs of people in the “Colorado … it’s Agricultural” contest. Her photo depicts a young girl showing a cow. Drazev also received an honorable mention in the category for agritourism for her photograph of bull riding action at a rodeo.

Jim Cox of Palisade received an honorable mention in the open professional category for his photo of an orchard with Mount Garfield in the background.

Other regional winners included Linda Aubery of Delta, who placed first in the agritourism category for her image of a tractor and old buildings in Cedaredge.

Ryan Kanode of Haxtun won the grand prize for his photo of a new crop sprouting from a field.

The winning photographs were selected for their depictions of the Colorado agriculture industry as well as creativity and technical quality.

The winning photographs are displayed online at the website at www.coloradoagriculture.com and in the Beede-Hamil Agriculture Building at Northeaster Junior College in Sterling.
