A wood-fired pizza franchise continues to expand with two stores expected to open in 2019 in Grand Junction.
Bob and Cecily Marolf plan to open two Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza locations as franchise owners.
“We believe Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza is perfect for the Grand Junction community,” Bob Marolf said. “Our local community wants natural, high-quality food, and that is exactly what this brand will produce. We have pizza here, but we don’t have fresh, wood-fired pizza. And Smokin Oak Wood-Fired Pizza will be the first of its kind in the area.”
In addition to fresh ingredients, Marolf said he plans to incorporate local ingredients — including produce, craft beers and wines — in the menu.
Matt Mongoven, chief executive officer of Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza also said the new stores will fit into the Grand Valley lifestyle. “Grand Junction is known for its healthy, outdoor community, and a meal at Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza will be a terrific way to refuel after biking, hiking, skiing or enjoying any of the many other outdoor activities that the area has to offer,” Mongoven said. “We hope to add an active pizza culture to this already active community.”
Based in Florida, Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza opened its first franchise location in Iowa in 2017. Three new locations are planned for the Denver area. New locations also are planned for Missouri and Tennessee.
Marolf said he was looking for a franchise offering strong consumer demand, profitability, good processes and procedures in place and support for new owners. “With Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza, all those boxes were checked.”
