Work force readiness course planned at Botanical Gardens

Registration is under way for a summer course designed to prepare teen-agers and young adults to enter the work force.

Two, four-week sessions are planned, starting July 9 and 23 at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens, located at 641 Struthers Ave. in Grand Junction. Classes will run from 8 a.m. to noon Mondays and Tuesdays.

Participants aged 14 to 25 will learn about meaning and purpose in work and how to make themselves desirable candidates for prospective employees.

In addition to classroom instruction on workplace basics, the course will include volunteer work at the gardens to teach teamwork, following directions and staying on task.
