The news cycle this past weekend consisted of two of the most worthless, diverting and idiotic stories the media has ever tried to foist upon the American people: Donald Trump saying the word nasty and changing how his hair looked. And the acting related to them is off the charts.
Think about that. This is all the left has. It certainly doesn’t have any legislation regarding the real problems this country faces. Instead we get diversion after diversion about things that have nothing to do with anything the government should actually be doing. And the Democrats’ minions in the media are not only helpful, but willful, participants. How else can you describe the two “breaking” stories of the past weekend.
So first up — and aligned with President Trump’s state visit to England — is the non-story (with audio evidence) about Trump using the word nasty in reference to the actress who became a princess — roles most of us could not care less about. It turns out that before she was princess, Meghan Markle said if Trump won the presidency, she’d move to Canada. Now, no one in their right minds believed that because no American actor has EVER been convincing in that role. Mainly because they’ve never actually gotten into character and done it.
For some reason, the intrepid reporter of The Sun decided this was a topic of utmost importance to be covered in an interview with our president. If you listen to the ENTIRE audio (as some actually do if they aren’t on the left reporting “all the news they see fit to print”) you’ll hear, in context, three distinct things. Trump had no idea about Ms. Markle’s remarks. Trump acted surprised she was being so nasty about his candidacy. And Trump said in the end he hopes she does an amazing job as princess. The HORROR.
But that’s not what we got as news consumers. There was nonstop “Trump called a princess nasty.” Except he didn’t. Some took it farther and played the race card because … well, they love to play the race card. Even more, some linked Trump’s comments about London’s mayor to Islamophobia and looped the two things together.
This was what dominated the news — until President Trump walked into a church with his hair slicked back after a round of golf. While this was made out to be about the hair, it was really about another attack by the left on Christianity. So let’s look at what really happened in the church in Virginia.
Coming into the weekend, there was a movement of 250 plus pastors calling for a day of prayer on Sunday for President Trump. Anyone who knows anything about New Testament teachings from the writings of Timothy knows Christians are to pray for our leaders. Heck, even Nancy Pelosi came out after stumbling and bumbling during a presser saying she prayed for the president and not a word was said about that — although no one believed her in that role even more than Ms. Markle’s leaving the country. So basically, we have a small group of preachers and their congregations doing what Nancy says she’s doing and one who was fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to get to do it live with the actual President of the United States.
Somehow that prayer has the left up in arms. Here’s why. A long time ago, no one had a problem with nonprofits and their missions. But then a politician — let’s not name him, but use initials, say LBJ — was challenged in an election by a nonprofit. All of the sudden, it wasn’t about a nonprofit’s mission. It became law a nonprofit can’t dabble in politics. Since churches tend to be nonprofits, it silenced the pulpits in our country from speaking out about anything our politicians do —with the threat of loss of nonprofit status or worse. That was a huge relief for Democrats given they love to do things that don’t exactly fall under biblical principles.
So there’s the reason for the hubbub. The left is twisting this into an endorsement of Trump by Christian churches. The left fears nothing more than Christians standing up to its agenda. So it’s doing what it does: putting out talking points to its media partners about churches not being allowed to talk politics from the stage or pulpit. The last thing Democrats want is the truth about the party being told to congregations across the country. Just another role that can’t be pulled off convincingly: Democrats defending most of what they do as Christian values. They’re shocked to learn most Christians disagree. Let’s see how long it takes for Dems to challenge the nonprofit status of the church Trump stopped into for a prayer.
So where does that leave us? Not talking about the border crisis. Ignoring the corrupt, built on lies, fruit of the poison tree Mueller report. Accepting that our government continues to run up record deficits under continuing resolution after continuing resolution. And Democrats in the house passing agenda-driven law after agenda-driven law to appease special interests and buy votes.
Me? I’m praying for President Trump and the country while I still can before Democrats change that law. Hopefully we all audition for that role. And we all get it.
