Course helps teens hone communication skills

A free six-week course designed to help teen-agers develop communication and leadership skills will be offered at the Mesa County Libraries central library in Grand Junction.

The course is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Oct. 10 to Nov. 14 at the library, 443 N. Sixth St.

Volunteers from Toastmasters clubs in Grand Junction will conduct the course for teen-agers age 13 to 17. Toastmasters International produced materials for the course.

Participants will learn how to overcome nervousness, organize and present ideas and write engaging speeches.

Space in the course is limited so participants will receive individual attention and have opportunities to gain practical experience. Advance registration is required. To register or obtain more information, call 243-4442 or visit the Mesa County Libraries website at www.mesacountylibraries.org.
