The Mesa County Commission approved the design contract to replace a 40-year-old bridge in rural Mesa County next year.
During the Oct. 20 public hearing, the commissioners approved a $269,910 contract with Short Elliot Hendrickson Inc. to design a new bridge over the Highline Canal on J Road and 23 Road. This is the first phase of the project. No construction is happening yet.
That design work will take place this winter, and construction is scheduled to start in fall 2027.
